What is a Troyl?

The word is rooted in Cornish language and comes from the cornish verb troillia - spin, whirl...

1880 the term firstly appeared as name for Cornish Céilidhs. In the 1980's Cornish music renewed itself and those dance events - Troyls - came to live again and had been written like in the band name since then. The ensemble TROYL does not only focus on Cornish music, but plays European folk tunes and song in modern arrangements and tries to be a part what is called living tradition!

As the band is still in foundation you cannot find much sound samples but we work hard to change that. You will find event data etc.. here soon!
